The study of cancer from a molecular point of view is a new discipline that has developed in a specialized way in the last two decades. The knowledge generated in this field extends from basic research areas (in the microbiological, biochemical or molecular biology fields) to clinical research areas related to diagnosis, prognosis and experimental treatment. This knowledge overcomes the barriers that traditionally separated different biomedical areas such as Medicine, Pharmacy and Biology.
