Educational Process

The educational process focuses on vocabulary and topics used in the fields of business, medicine, education, engineering, IT, and communication skills used in the workplace, such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, and report writing. The Vocationally Oriented Language Learning model (VOLL) centers around learning a language, skills, and subject content for work and life. It emphasizes interpersonal communication including situations in professional contexts.

We provide our students with the opportunity to explore other cultures and learn the languages and traditions of European countries to get the chance to become a specialist in the field of linguistics and philology. Linguistics degrees cover topics that are related to the analysis of language and the way it is structured.

Students discover the way language changes over time, how it varies between different groups of people and situations, and how people learn or acquire language. The Linguistics course also incorporates aspects of psychology, sociology, anthropology, communications studies, and science. We use modern technologies, combining them with old European traditions of studying and their approach to education.

Learning a foreign language at the European School of Foreign Languages in Poland fosters students’ curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world, its cultures, and nations. The teaching enables students to express their ideas and thoughts using a foreign language and to understand and respond to its speakers. Learning foreign languages refers to teaching the language by university students concerning the particular vocabulary and skills they need in their social life, studies, and workplaces. As with any language taught for specific purposes, a course in a foreign language focuses on one occupation or profession, such as Technical English, Scientific English, English for Medical Professionals, etc.

Students are expected to develop professional competencies in a foreign language, which will allow them to participate in oral and written communication around professional topics. For example, pre-service teachers of biology will have to discuss and read English (or any other chosen language) texts both on biology and pedagogy. Therefore, the number of vocabulary sub-skills as well as the quality of all the skills that the target students will have to develop enormously increases.
