The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario data shows that in 2019 Tourism in Ontario was a $36 billion a year industry, with more than 200,000 businesses and 400,000 employees. Tourism HR Canada projects the tourism workforce in Canada will grow to 2.1 million jobs, exposing a labour and skills shortage in more than 400 job types in accommodation, food and beverage, transportation, entertainment and travel services.
